The last week or so I have been avidly keeping up on these blogs/forums. It's addicting. I lived in this D1 environment and though everything is not exactly as I experienced, it's amazing how much I am able to relate to a lot of it. This makes my drive to be the best coach I can be and put a stop to this toxic environment.
You have the choice to learn from the past and realize that life.goes.on.

You Still Have a Reason to Sing
Driving home tonight I was getting pretty down. I'd even texted a friend complaining about being somewhat depressed. The next thing I know, I'm hearing these lyrics found below from Josh Wilson. I'm pretty sure I've never heard this song before and it was as if He was speaking through this song to me. Yes, things may suck now, but in the grand scheme of things, is it really THAT bad? NO. And this is what I have to keep remembering and telling myself.
"Before the Morning"
Do you wonder why you have to,
feel the things that hurt you,
if there's a God who loves you,
where is He now?
Maybe, there are things you can't see
and all those things are happening
to bring a better ending
some day, some how, you'll see, you'll see
Chorus:
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming.
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
press on, just fight the good fight
because the pain you've been feeling,
it's just the dark before the morning.
My friend, you know how this all ends
and you know where you're going,
you just don't know how you get there
so just say a prayer.
And hold on, cause there's good who love God,
life is not a snapshot, it might take a little time,
but you'll see the bigger picture.
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming.
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
press on, just fight the good fight
because the pain you've been feeling,
it's just the dark before the morning
yeah, yeah,
before the morning,
yeah, yeah
Once you feel the way of glory,
all your pain will fade to memory
once you feel the way of glory,
all your pain will fade to memory
memory, memory, yeah
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming
Com'n, you got to wait for the light
press on, just fight the good fight
because the pain you've been feeling,
it's just the hurt before the healing
the pain you've been feeling,
just the dark before the morning
before the morning, yeah, yeah
before the morning.
I've added it to the playlist, so hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Why Yes, I Can Teach You How to Dougie
I was in Cali for my birthday and we headed out to Thousand Oaks to go to Siscos. A friend got this video of me and even though you can't see anything too well, I kind of love this :)
Enjoy!
